Apples: From Sniffles to Smiles




During my time as an undergraduate student at Fisk University, by foot or by Uber, I explored Nashville, TN! One of my favorite eateries at the time was the Urban Juicer on Charlotte Ave - If you can believe it, I used to walk from Fisk to that Urban Juicer, and back!


The day came where I wasn't feeling too well. I woke up sneezing, coughing, and was feeling congested... all signs were pointing toward a seasonal cold. In the spirit of "Let food by thy medicine" I walked to the Urban Juicer and ordered an immune system boosting tea called the Hot Apple Press. As soon as the tea was placed in front of me, I picked up the cup, held it up to my face and inhaled. My senses were titillated with the warming caress of cinnamon. Only then did I dare to sip - Lawd hammercy!


While the cinnamon, lemon, honey, cayenne, etc. were beautiful accompaniments to this reviving cup of tea, the stars of the show were the farm to table, locally sourced apples.
