Human interaction can become hollow , empty, and redundant without the beautiful hues of mindful presence, accountable honesty, genuine intention, and agape love. This Mother's Day weekend was filled with many delicious rays of exactly that!
On Friday evening, my mother, Simone Beans, and I had an intentionally present and introspective conversation about our respective life journey's. We discussed some of the brilliant joys, momentary pains, lingering expectations, and the important legacy we want to leave behind. This time was a beautifully sobering reflection of where we are, and how incredibly far we have come.
On Saturday, my sister-in-love, Shandi, whisked Mama Sharon and I away to a restful spa day at the O.liv Body Bar. My massage therapist, John, was so respectful and kind as he set the atmosphere for a therapeutic experience. The soft, vintage aesthetic, unlimited access to the hot tea bar, accommodating staff, and access to technology-free activities (books, adult coloring books, quiet conversation, etc.) allowed me the ability to truly unwind.
On Sunday, the family gathered together to worship. Afterward, we feasted on some good ol' down-home soul food. While the food was good, the cornbread dressing could not lift a finger to my mother-in-love's dressing ... tremendous side eye at the attempt! That being said, the entire weekend was a beautiful manifestation of love.
